We developed this set of eight coaching plans, based on field work with snow plow drivers. The plans allow supervisors to lead tailgate sessions or safety talks that aim to reduce strain/sprain injury risk amongst heavy equipment operators. The coaching plans are based on adult learning principles, which suggest that adults learn through a process of presentation, application, and feedback. Each plan includes talking points (including why the proposed method helps to reduce risk), demonstration, and hands-on practice. The topics included are:
1. Use 3-points of contact when entering a truck
2. Face the cab while exiting
3. Adjust the seat pan
4. Adjust the backrest
5. Adjust the lumbar support
6. Hold the wheel at 8&4
7. Stretch outside the cab
8. Move while you drive
